About Anna & Ingela

THE CIRCULENTS

Anna Bergström & Ingela Ljung

Sustainable experts

Sweden

Ingela and Anna runs a centre for sustainable development in Nyköping, Sweden; The Circulents. Circulent is a word composed of circular and consumer. It describes a person who choose sustainable products and business models, who rents, borrows, swops and shop almost everything second hand. The Circulents are convinced the future way is to create availability to products and items you need instead of owning them.

In the heart of Nyköping’s oldest history, integrated in the old castle, the Circulents are running their sustainable business – reusing the old house with few facilities, as a centre for developing circular and sustainable business models. They offer rooms to rent for sustainable conferences, meetings, and workshops in tastefully upcycled and sustainable furnishings. An environment for creativity and innovation!

In parallel, they also run a work-integrated social enterprise for people who are far from the regular labour market. The people who work in place are given knowledge and development in the handling of clothes, textiles, and small furniture that was intended to be thrown away as waste. They learn how to sort material and reuse it by upcycle design and creates new things from old ones.

Anna Bergström

International sustainable expert

Sweden

ANNA has attracted attention in all media around the world as a recycling queen, guru, and sustainable expert – she is the one who made the municipal installation and the recycle park-idea to be highlighted as the world’s freshest update in the trade industry! As the mall manager for Retuna Recycle-mall in Eskilstuna, she made the mall famous worldwide as the practical example of circular economy and the future model for how to run a mall. Recycling and circular economy did not attract as many in 2015, when the mall opened, as it does today! Sustainability development has really grown in interest and is now the only way to stay relevant in many industries.

Ingela Ljung

social entrepreneurship expert

Sweden

INGELA has many years of experience in social entrepreneurship and has been a noted profile for innovation and new thinking in all her previous assignments and projects. Back then the focus was often to creating space and jobs for young people who may have had difficulties finding a place in the regular labour market. From waste, used things and old items the company created products and goods for sale, installations for shopping centres and decorations for events. For both non-profit and financial reasons. Then, when Ingela started the struggle to lift and get social entrepreneurship to carry itself, quite a few knew what it was and what it meant. Both how a social enterprise worked, the business idea itself, but also what a difference it made for those who were given the opportunity to be part of the business. Today, both recycling and social entrepreneurship are the new black!
